It's still snowing

The plants around here are really struggling - the maple trees are trying to leaf out, the quakies haven't even started to bud yet, my raspberries have leaves, thank goodness my pansies and marigolds are in a planter box that is sheltered a little more from the snow.

 

We got 5 more inches this morning when I left for work - I took the truck and it was reassuring to have 4 wheel drive to go the roads to get to the main road.  It was a little slippery on the dirt roads and getting closer to town, the less snow and more rain.  It is suppose to rain and snow through Sunday.  Most of the snow was gone on the roads when I got back from Provo this evening.  I bet there will be more snow in the morning when I have to leave for class in the morning!!

Drove to Provo and Orem to meet up with Gary this afternoon to help him out with some car problems. The Spanish Fork River is very high and it is only the start of the melt from the mountain snow. The mountains in the canyon are further along in leafing out and getting really green.   We drove to South Salt Lake on Wednesday night and had dinner with some of Gary's family at TGI Friday.  His older brother Paul flew into Salt Lake on Tuesday evening and had a meeting Wednesday and flew back to Maryland today.  It was nice to get together with Paul, Dad, Janeil, Larry, Janee, Carly (and her 2 boys), Emily (her 2 future twin boys - in about 2 weeks), Justin, Daren, Leah, Alexis, Olivia and Gared.

Gared is working at the Marriott in Provo as a server.  He starts at 5:30 AM (he is not a morning person - he is learning to go to bed at a reasonable hour - instead of being up all night and sleeping most of the day) and works most of the time until 4 or 4:30.  He enjoys being there and sees a lot of potential in working for Marriott.  A good place for advancement and job security.  It is nice to see that he has a good job finally!  It was nice spending some time with him on Wednesday.
