A little bit behind - so two weeks August 14 to August 28, 2022

 

Elder & Sister Farrer gave us these S'Mores Snack as a thank you when we at the laundry mat last week and we threw their bandanas from Challenge Course into the dryer for them and then we folded them - close to 75 bandanas.  Then we surprised Sister Fullmer and folded Challenge Course 1 bandanas - close to 100!  It is nice find things like that to serve others.  (They have to wash the bandanas every night to be used on their courses.)

Monday night for Home Evening, there was a mission luau!

Then we had a performance from Iosepa ward.  The YW a week before were here at Camp Reeder.  After they performed, they filled up their plates for dinner.

We had chicken, rice, fruit, rolls, punch, keylime pie and coconut cream pie.

On the 16th we were responsible to do the upper gates and on our way back into camp, we came across this fellow walking on the road.

Then further down the road we came across this young lady!

In the afternoon as we were driving along we came across this cloud iridescence.  I have never seen this before and while at camp I have seen two.

Then later in the day - there was a double rainbow.

On the 17th, we decided as a zone that we would go out for ride to the upper gates together before the hunting season started and would limit our access time.

Thursday afternoon, Elder Black and I headed to Idaho Falls, Idaho to attend Daisy and Dan's youngest Steven and Ashton's sealing in the Idaho Falls Temple on Friday. We met up with Dan, Daisy and David at the Olive Garden for dinner. After dinner we found a Japanese Friendship Garden along the Snake River.

Then Friday morning was the sealing ceremony.

After the temple, we all headed to Garcia's for a luncheon.

We said goodbye to Dan who needed to get back to Rexburg so he could pack up and then catch the shuttle bus for Salt Lake Airport to fly home on Saturday morning.  We made arrangements with Daisy and David has they were headed back to Santaquin on Sunday to stop at the HVC for lunch and a quick tour of the camp.

We decided we would go up to Yellowstone Bear World just north of Idaho Falls. It is a drive thru park where the elk, deer and bears in separate yards.

Saturday morning, we stopped at the Butterfly Haven in Pingree, Idaho.  Beautiful butterflies.  

Sunday afternoon, Daisy and David stopped by the camp to have lunch with us and we drove them around the camp.  They stayed and played Jokers and Marbles with us. We had a good time with them here.  Daisy is planning a staying with David through next Saturday when she will fly home to Harrisburg.

Monday evening, August 22nd, it was our turn to attend a Home Evening at President and Sister O'Bryant's home.  During the summer each month, different groups of the missionaries have been invited for dinner and a lesson.

Wednesday, August 23rd - The zone went out to several of the outback camps to close them down.  Drained the water barrells, turn them over and take the lids,  collect the broom, shovel and bucket, turn over the wood stumps on their side and put more wood in the wood boxes for next year.

On Thursday, August 25th the zone had breakfast at Betty's in Heber.  We stopped by earlier to eat for Elder Black had an appointment at 9:00 and they were not meeting until 8:30.  No one took a picture of them but I did take a picture of this sign inside the restaurant.

After our appointment in town, we headed to Springville to watch Jackson, while Amanda was working and Gared had a training meeting he needed to attend.  So Elder Black later in the afternoon headed to Pleasant Grove to pick up Henry and William from school.  Gared got done earlier than he planned and he fixed

dinner for him and the boys.  We waited for Amanda to get home, but she had to stay late so we missed her.  Around 6:00 we headed to Mt Pleasant and crashed for the night.  The next morning, Aaron arrived around 9:00 and he and Elder Black headed up the mountain for a hike and to look for one of his game cameras he still had on the mountain from his 2020 elk hunt.

They found one of the three.  One Elder Black went looking for the last time we were home and it was gone.  This one was still there but someone scratched up the lens with their knife.  Really!!  Still need to make another hike to see if he can find the third one.

Saturday night, Elder and Sister Cluff wanted to do another crepe dinner for the zone.  We originally planned to have it at the Kapp Pavilion outside but it is getting cooler outside and there was a threat of rain, so it was moved to the Smith Pavilion, which is enclosed.

It seems like all we do is eat!!??  Sister Bassett then played a game that her family did at their reunion this summer - we had to watch other eat some candy and see if we could tell who had the sour candy.  To be honest - we really could not tell - they were good at hiding a sour puss.  They all had a hard time knowing which candy was the sour ones.

Then Bassetts gave each couple little thank you gift for being on their zone.  We had a wonderful time together.



 

Saturday morning during our morning devotional, there was a car that drove up to the Welcome Center and Elder Hunt went to greet the car.  Which none of us thought twice about.  We were still sitting around talking when Elder Hunt came up to Sister Bristol and I and said that a lady is the car on the other side of the Welcome Center , who knows you both, is writing a note to us.  We look at each other and wonder who that could be.  We soon disburse and around the corner of the Welcome Center comes Sister Fifield, whom we meet about a month ago when her stake was here for camp in Hinckley.  She gave us both these bouquets of flowers, with pictures and a card.  (She was wearing her camp shirt - their theme was "BE" believe, become - I have to look back at the pictures back in July.  She and her husband drove from Bountiful this morning to give us these.  We got big hugs and this picture.  She is related to Elder Black through William and Jane Johnston Black.  Upon reading her card when we got back to the trailer, I had tears of joy from what she wrote.  She told us that she wasn't planning on staying at camp, until she met us at the Welcome Center that afternoon,  She has been inactive in the church for four years and she had made a commitment to go back and her daughters are attending with her.  She felt so love and at peace while at camp and she knew she needed to go back.  So you never know when you will touch someone and when you will be in the right place at the right time.
