Saturday before Memorial Day,the whole family was here helping with defensible space clean up. On the mountains, you need to thin out undergrowth, dead trees, live trees and keep a 35 to 50 foot area clear around your cabin. Gared had the chainsaw going, Katrina and I hauled limbs to Shawn who was running the chipper, Karey watched Zane for Katrina, Tim ran the rhino- hauling limbs from other parts of the yard and Gary had the "man weed-eater" going clearing the under growth. The chips went on the driveway to keep the dust down (smell of pine and cedar is great) and the bigger pieces of wood went into the stack to be burned in the woodstove this winter. After lunch, Gared, Shawn and Karey went fishing, Tim left in the after dinner to take a nap and then work at Maverick - we all played games and had an enjoyable evening and weekend together.
