Well, tell us we are crazy - we have talked about how nice it is not to have any pets to worry about if we wanted to go somewhere. It has been a long time since we lost both Ashley and Sara (the dogs and MT - the turtle) and we lost Beaker (our cat) this fall. We talked about not getting another animal - then a friend called us and said that he had 2 puppies left and is having a hard time even giving them away. So we stopped by his place Saturday after our Pow Wow just to look and to see if he would give us a puppy for "free"!! He had 2 white/yellow males left.
We went home with one of them and we named him "Charley! He is very smart, learns quickly and we really like him. The first two nights were a little rough - he didn't like being in the laundry room with the doors closed. The third night we let him sleep in our room, blocked off the loft stairs (he won't go down the basement stairs for some reason) and he slept the whole night without a whimper. A few accidents on the living room floor and so Wednesday night our bedroom door got closed and there were no accidents in the bedroom and not a sound from him all night. We are learning to read his signs of when it is time to take him outside - Gary is home during the day and is learning quickly to catch him.
Gared and I leave in the morning for school and work between 7:15 and 7:45 (depending on the day) and get home around 3:00 - so Gary is having the responsibility to watch and teach Charley.
